INSIGHTS FROM RABBI AVRAHAM GREENBAUM, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF AZAMRA INSTITUTE.

Rabbi Avraham Greenbaum, founder and director of the Azamra Institute, is the author of over twenty books on the teachings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov and a well-known teacher of Jewish spirituality and healing.

Born in Britain in 1949, Rabbi Greenbaum gained his MA in classics and social sciences at Cambridge University. As a Harkness Fellow he studied at Harvard and Columbia. He spent four years as a BBC World Service current affairs commentator and radio producer. A lifelong yearning for spirituality led to his return to Torah in the '70's. In 1980 Rabbi Greenbaum moved to Israel with his wife and family and settled in Jerusalem. He ran a sound-recording studio for several years before devoting himself exclusively to study, teaching, counseling and writing.

He was ordained in 1988 by Rabbi Meir Bransdorfer of Jerusalem's Orthodox Council. Rabbi Greenbaum founded the Azamra Institute in 1986. He maintains the Azamra website, and teaches at the Tiferet Study Center.

Rabbi Greenbaum's books include Rabbi Nachman's Advice, Rabbi Nachman's "Tikkun" and the highly popular "Under the Table & How to Get Up", a handbook of Jewish pathways of spiritual growth based on Rebbe Nachman's parable of the Prince who thought he was a turkey.

Five years of intensive research into Torah teachings on healing culminated in the publication of "The Wings of the Sun" (1995), a major study of the Jewish Healing Tradition in theory and practice.

Rabbi Greenbaum's latest work is a translation of the RaMChaL's , "138 Openings of Wisdom". Previously, Rabbi Greenbaum published a translation of the RaMCHaL's "Mishkney Elyon (Secrets of the Future Temple)". Rabbi Greenbaum travels regularly in Israel, North America and Britain to teach and counsel.
